We started working with APTE in 2017 when they asked us to work with them to rebuild their old website, and replace it with a Content Management System (CMS) so that they could access and update the website themselves. After much discussion regarding the design and functionality required, the installation and customisation of the CMS took two days, and the transfer of content took another day. Training was provided online and via email afterwards.
Additional functionality was added to support the APTE research group. Mendeley referencing software, together with its associated API, was used, allowing the research group to collaborate online and immediately share useful papers on the APTE website. A Twitter account was created and integrated with the website so that new content was immediately shared via social media.
Later in 2017, a conference system was added to the site, allowing members to book and pay for upcoming conferences and seminars. Online invoicing and receipting, together with a comprehensive tracking and reporting system, reduced workload for APTE staff.
